NGL, I'm a little intimidated. I've built computers before, but none as expensive as this one. I will wear an ESD wrist strap while assembling.
Got the last couple of parts in just now.
Side note, the SCOTUS made the correct decision on Moore v. Harper. In a 6–3 decision, the Court ruled that the Elections Clause does not
give state legislatures full control of federal elections, affirming the
North Carolina Supreme Court's original decision and rejecting the Independent State Legislature theory. This is good news for democracy.

I had a target budget of $5,000. That's based on the cost of an Apple II+ floppy disk drive, in 1981. I know this because I helped the science teacher, Mr. Norman Dria assemble the computer after school, and I got to see the invoice. He had received a grant for $25,000, with which he bought the latest in home computers, the Apple II+, along with a pair of 5-1/4" floppy disk drives, a color monitor (15 colors!), and extra RAM to bring the total to 48k. Yes, that's right "k". A WHOPPING 49,152 bytes. If good old Mr. Dria could spend 25k on a computer back then, I could afford 5k now. After all, I won't be buying a Tesla for my birthday. After seeing what an idiot Elon Musk is, and how badly he wants to own the libs, why would I give him my money?

I talk to my nephew about once a week. He likes to talk about Anime and video games, while I try to steer the conversation towards current events and politics. One point I made was how important it is to vote, and that elections have consequences. The example I used was the war in Ukraine. If Trump had won the 2020 election, the United States, and probably the rest of the world, would not have lifted a finger to help Ukraine fight the Russian invasion. Putin most likely would have taken over Ukraine.
It's amazing the things that we see in our life times. For me, The Challenger disaster, 9/11, Halley's Comet, no WMD's, OJ being acquitted, the country's first black president, the Internet, billionaires buying Supreme Court Justices, AI, and everything that goes with Trump. It's fascinating.
Also, the room rebuild is coming along. I started by cleaning everything, since my house collects a ton of dust. I'm rearranging the furniture to accommodate the new computer. After my brother told me about some breaking news regarding the Wagner Group, now in Russia, I hurried to get my networking back online.
I put the news on, and continued working. For more room, I moved my mom's china cabinet out, which opened up the space a lot.
These arrived yesterday. On top is a line conditioner for incoming power. I always like to protect my electronic investments with transient voltage protection.
I use the UPS for clean power, and an added level of protection.
Still haven't seen the motherboard and CPU yet.
